Mercy Hands Europe is a youth and women-led, non-profit Swiss organisation that works to safeguard dignity, sustain human rights and build sustainable futures for people, particularly those who are the most vulnerable.

We implement humanitarian and development projects in disaster affected areas and impoverished communities, either directly through field missions, our sister organization, or other local partners.

🚀 Project Update from South Omo! 🌱🔆

✅ The remaining solar accessories—fencing materials and section hose accessories—were shipped Wednesday. Installation is anticipated to be completed within five days. 💪🔧

🚜 More positive news! After successful discussions, the head of the Dassenech Woreda agriculture office has committed to providing a tractor to support land tillage. This will boost efficiency for our beneficiary farmers! 🌾✨

👥 Our technical officer has also met with the beneficiary group to plan farming area clearance—laying the groundwork for a productive season ahead. 🌿🤝

🌟🐔 "From Little Things, Big Things Grow!" We`re excited to update you on our latest initiative where we`ve distributed 500 chickens to 50 inspiring women.

👩🏻Each woman is now equipped with the resources to sustain and develop a personal poultry farm.

📈This isn`t just about poultry; it`s a step towards economic independence, providing these hardworking women with both a stable income and a nutritious diet. They`re not just growing chickens—they`re growing opportunities, health, and community strength. Watch as they transform their futures, one egg at a time!

🌞 Exciting Progress on the Eco-Irrigation Project in South Omo! 🌱🚰

Our solar-powered irrigation system is taking shape! ✅ 26 solar panels already installed, creating more than enough energy to power the 7.5 kW solar pump! Community members are also actively involved throughout the process, assisting with fitting and distribution of materials.

🔨 Next Steps:
🔹 Fencing work is underway—just waiting on delivery of gabion wire from the supplier.
🔹 100 shovels secured for local farmers.
🔹 Site clearing for land tillage is underway.
🔹 A tractor request is pending with local authorities.

🎉 Unlocking Digital Opportunities in Hawassa with mary_joy_ethiopia_official !

💻 On January 29, 2025, we successfully hosted a Digitalisation Workshop at our Digital Library Service, bringing together 30 enthusiastic young learners (19 male, 11 female). Participants explored practical applications of digital technology, gained essential digital skills, and learned about emerging technological advancements.

🚀 Beyond theory, they also discovered career opportunities in the digital field and the key skills needed for success in today’s tech-driven world.
